So this is Christmas...

I was on my way back from the airport on Saturday, complaining to myself about the holiday traffic and the madness that accompanies it, when I decided to take a detour. I had my camera with me, so I thought I might go exploring in downtown for a while. Ten minutes into my journey I came across this man on the sidewalk, rifling through a garbage can on the corner of Peachtree St. He looked every bit of 70 years old, shivering in his hospital scrub pants and ill-fitting slippers. I snapped this photo without really thinking and drove on to my next stop. It wasn't until I got home and looked at my shots again that I thought about this old man. Mostly the fact that he would be spending his Holiday, on the streets of Atlanta. Despite all of my complaining about this holiday season, I tried to keep things in perspective. This Christmas was particularly stressful...but in the grand scheme of things, I was actually quite lucky. I got to spend time with the people who matter most, eat entirely too much food, selfishly tear into presents, and I have a wonderful place to lay my head at the end of the day. I just wanted to express my gratitude to all of you (you know who you are) for all that you do.

Sunrise

I love this time of year. I am up, showered and at work before the sun starts to come up. Which allows me the chance to catch some cool sunrises. You can't tell by the photo, but when this photo was taken, there were half a dozen puppies at my feet trying to grab my camera strap. Another perk of the job...

Right under your nose...

Know what I mean? Sometimes they are right there, and you just forget to look at them. For instance, I see this barn everyday, but for some reason, never really took a close look at it. I guess it is the same in life, right? You keep thinking about the things you want next...without realizing what you already have. I will try and keep that in mind while shooting from now on. You might just miss that great shot if you dont....

Shooting just to shoot...

Just sitting around on Sunday afternoon and decided to take some shots. I guess it helped that it was sunny and 70 degrees outside....in December. I had just finished raking leaves in the front yard and wanted to see if the old man Gus wanted to romp around in the pile. No such luck. But he did agree to a few shots in the yard as we lost the light. Handsome, huh?

A Thursday Afternoon...

I may have an addictive personality. I have been looking at everything through the lens as of late. I carry my camera everywhere I go now. You never know when you might catch a moment. A sunset on the farm, or just two old friends keeping each other warm.

Imitation is the most sincere form of thievery...

I have seen photos with a similar feel, but I tried to give it my own vibe. Sitting around the house, bored? Set up a scenario and try to make something happen. This was a combination of a tripod, a flashlight, and a couple of props. I need to get a life, huh?

After the rain...

is the best time to shoot! The clouds look crazy and everything is a mess. I love it. Found this great little place to shoot, a huge lot under construction. Probably a future strip mall. I saw a cayote roaming the property, but I was not quick enough with the camera to get the shot. But it wasn't a total loss, I got to experiment with these great reflections. Big thanks to Ashlea, yet again. She is always available to be my subject.

Black With Some White

Feel like your creativity has hit a wall... shoot some black and white. Its like getting back to basics. My amiga Ashlea was kind enough to be my subject, and she did a great job.

Just another day on the farm...

When you get to work on a farm everyday, there is never a shortage of great photo oppertunities. Blink and you might miss it, like my little lab mix Cedar, flying through the air. Or a quiet moment with the horses in the pasture. I can't even imagine working in a cubicle...

Rare meeting...

Not very often do you get the chance to meet a deer up close and personal. A friend of mine is nursing her back to health after she found her tangled in their fence. The last photo was taken by my friend Ashlea...

Friday Night Fights at Wild Bill's

Oh, what a night is was...got to meet UFC star, Forest Griffen (A.K.A Lissa's boytoy). Watched some brutal, bloody battles and got a couple of cool shots back stage. All in all, I had a great time at the WB.
