I was on my way back from the airport on Saturday, complaining to myself about the holiday traffic and the madness that accompanies it, when I decided to take a detour. I had my camera with me, so I thought I might go exploring in downtown for a while. Ten minutes into my journey I came across this man on the sidewalk, rifling through a garbage can on the corner of Peachtree St. He looked every bit of 70 years old, shivering in his hospital scrub pants and ill-fitting slippers. I snapped this photo without really thinking and drove on to my next stop. It wasn't until I got home and looked at my shots again that I thought about this old man. Mostly the fact that he would be spending his Holiday, on the streets of Atlanta. Despite all of my complaining about this holiday season, I tried to keep things in perspective. This Christmas was particularly stressful...but in the grand scheme of things, I was actually quite lucky. I got to spend time with the people who matter most, eat entirely too much food, selfishly tear into presents, and I have a wonderful place to lay my head at the end of the day. I just wanted to express my gratitude to all of you (you know who you are) for all that you do.

Sunrise
I love this time of year. I am up, showered and at work before the sun starts to come up. Which allows me the chance to catch some cool sunrises. You can't tell by the photo, but when this photo was taken, there were half a dozen puppies at my feet trying to grab my camera strap. Another perk of the job...

Right under your nose...
Know what I mean? Sometimes they are right there, and you just forget to look at them. For instance, I see this barn everyday, but for some reason, never really took a close look at it. I guess it is the same in life, right? You keep thinking about the things you want next...without realizing what you already have. I will try and keep that in mind while shooting from now on. You might just miss that great shot if you dont....

Shooting just to shoot...
Just sitting around on Sunday afternoon and decided to take some shots. I guess it helped that it was sunny and 70 degrees outside....in December. I had just finished raking leaves in the front yard and wanted to see if the old man Gus wanted to romp around in the pile. No such luck. But he did agree to a few shots in the yard as we lost the light. Handsome, huh?
